Terms of Use

OutdoorChar is provided free of charge, without accounts or registration. By using the site you agree to the simple terms below.

The calculators are estimates

Every result is a calculation from the inputs you provide, using published formulas and reference values cited on each page. Real outcomes depend on your equipment, conditions and judgment. Results are planning aids, not guarantees - and for climbing, altitude and cold weather they are explicitly not safety advice. Always use your own judgment, training and qualified instruction in the field.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We correct reported errors on a best-effort basis - send them to hello@outdoorchar.com.

Acceptable use

You may use and share results freely. Automated scraping, reselling the calculators as your own service, or attempting to disrupt the site's availability is not permitted.

Privacy

Calculator inputs stay in your browser and are never uploaded. See the privacy page for exactly what is and is not collected.

Changes

These terms may be updated occasionally; material changes will be noted on this page. Last updated: October 2026.
